But what is a lead magnet?
A lead magnet is an incentive that you would offer to a potential buyer in exchange for their contact information.

Be careful not to get it confused, “Subscribe to our newsletter” is NOT a lead magnet.
It does not provide a specific solution to a specific problem.
The most crucial component of an effective lead magnet is specificity.
1. Be Specific, Specific, Specific!
Try saying that three times fast…
The reason specificity is so important is because users need to know exactly what they’re going to gain.
“Lose 100lbs Fast!” Versus “Lose 7lbs a week with these 5 dieting techniques.”
The first one isn’t very specific, which makes it pretty unbelievable…
2. Easily Comprehensible
Your lead magnet must be easy to read, as well as easy to understand.
Books don’t necessarily make great lead magnets because they cannot deliver a result immediately.
Keep in mind you don’t want this to become a roadblock for a user, you’ve told them that you have the answer they’re looking for, now you have to deliver it to them.
Make sure your lead magnet takes about 5 minutes or less to be consumed.
2. Answer a Question
Think about what you have to offer, and then think about your target audience.
What are they looking for?
Great lead magnets will scream “I have the answer!”.
People are constantly searching for the answer to their problem, speak to a “pain point” that they may have.
4. Create a Relationship
The best lead magnets will go beyond delivering information to a user.
When you deliver exactly what you say you will, you gain favor and trust with this person!
One thing to remember is that you can never go wrong with over delivery.
When you not only give them what you say you will but also give them even more, this shows gratitude and initiative!
You are sure to win some cool points with them…meaning they will come back, again, and again!
